Institutional Onboarding Guidelines

Welcome to the D.Waste ecosystem! To ensure a seamless setup for your institution or campaign, please provide the following details.

  • Description (Required): A concise overview of the initiative's goals and purpose.
  • Banner Image (Required): A high-quality image to represent your institution or specific campaign within the app.

    • Bin Names: List all specific waste bin types used across your campus.
    • Accepted Items: Specify clearly which materials belong in each corresponding bin.
    • Remarks (Optional): Provide any additional guidance (e.g., "Please flatten all cardboard before placing it behind the recycling station" ).

2. Rewards Mapping (If Rewarding)

Our gamification system encourages proper waste sorting. Please define the point values awarded for each material type:

Example Mapping:

  • Plastic: 2 pts
  • Cardboard: 5 pts
  • Paper: 25 pts
  • Metal: 40 pts

3. Waste Disposal Locations

Providing accurate locations helps users find the nearest bin.

Tip: If you provide a physical address, our team can automatically retrieve the exact Latitude and Longitude for you.

Required Data Fields:

  • Material Type (e.g., Metal, Glass, Mixed)
  • Bin Name (e.g., Floor 1 Hallway Bin)
  • Address & Postal Code
  • Coordinates: Latitude and Longitude (if available)
  • Location Notes: Helpful context (e.g., "Located in the main lobby, next to the elevator").

4. Visual Assets & Procedures

  • Logos: Provide your university or sustainability logo to be displayed prominently in the app.
  • Signage Photos: Sharing images of your physical on-campus signage helps provide users with a familiar visual context.
  • Custom Procedures (Optional): If your institution has unique protocols (e.g., for e-waste or hazardous materials), please describe them. We will display these as "Pro Tips" or specialized guidelines for your users.

5. Data Collection & Privacy

To ensure the best performance and maintain leaderboard integrity, we collect:

  • Device Information: For performance and technical optimization.
  • User Identity: Full name and email address for leaderboard placement and official updates.
  • Scan Verification: Images from each scan are stored to prevent fraud and to continuously improve our AI identification system.

6. Real-Time Insights

Once your campaign is live, your admin dashboard will provide Real-Time Insights into the waste streams generated at your institution, helping you track your sustainability impact instantly.
