Baby Food Pouches

What Should I Do With It?

Squeeze pouches are incredibly convenient for feeding young children, but they are unfortunately not accepted in standard curbside recycling programs. Because they are made from fused layers of plastic and aluminum, commercial sorting facilities cannot separate the materials, and they cannot be mixed with regular plastic grocery bags at retail drop-off hubs. While the empty pouch belongs in the regular trash, you can sometimes find specialized mail-in programs that accept the rigid plastic caps, or third-party recycling services that process the pouches for a fee. To reduce waste entirely, consider switching to reusable pouches. They are a great alternative if you blend your own baby food or fill them with purees bought in larger, highly recyclable containers like glass jars.

💡 Helpful Tip

Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
