Fireworks

Household Hazardous Waste ✅ Standard Recycling
A collection of unused fireworks and pyrotechnic devices.

What Should I Do With It?

Fireworks contain explosive chemicals and pyrotechnic compositions that remain highly reactive and dangerous even if they appear old or damaged. Under no circumstances should fireworks be placed in standard household trash or recycling bins, as they pose a severe fire and explosion risk to sanitation workers, collection vehicles, and processing facilities. To dispose of them safely, the best method is to soak the fireworks in a bucket of water for at least 24 hours to ensure the chemical components are fully neutralized. Once thoroughly soaked, place the wet items in a heavy-duty plastic bag, seal it securely, and dispose of it in your regular trash. If you possess a large quantity of unused or unstable fireworks, contact your local fire department or municipal hazardous waste authority for specific professional disposal instructions.

💡 Helpful Tip

Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
