What Should I Do With It?
Gaming consoles represent a major category of electronic waste and must be strictly kept out of standard household trash and curbside recycling bins. These entertainment devices are manufactured with complex circuit boards, heavy metals, and rigid plastic casings that present severe ecological hazards if left to degrade in a landfill. To extend the life of your hardware, keep the console clean and free of dust, or donate working systems to family shelters and community centers to keep them in use. When a console is completely non-functional and cannot be repaired, it must be brought to a certified electronic waste recycling depot or a local household hazardous waste event so its valuable components can be safely reclaimed.
Safety First
This item contains chemicals, heavy metals, or batteries that can be dangerous. Throwing it in your regular trash can cause fires, hurt sanitation workers, or leak harmful chemicals into the environment.
Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
