Laundry Baskets

What Should I Do With It?

Laundry baskets are made from a wide variety of materials, meaning they cannot all be disposed of the same way. While some local programs allow you to recycle rigid plastic baskets if they are broken down, collapsible fabric and multi-material baskets are not curbside recyclable. For these, you should separate any cloth parts to dispose of with textiles and discard the frames. Wicker baskets should also be kept out of compost bins because they often contain synthetic glues or artificial fibers that will not decompose, though they can easily be upcycled into decorative home planters.

💡 Helpful Tip

Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
