Plastic #7 (Others)
What Should I Do With It?
Plastic #7 is a catch-all category used for any plastic material that does not fit into the other six classifications, ranging from durable acrylic and nylon to plant-based bioplastics like PLA. While standard household containers labeled #7 can usually be recycled curbside, specialty items like plastic pallets and rigid acrylic sheets must go in the regular trash. This category also includes many toys, which should be donated to keep them out of landfills if they are still functional. Most importantly, plant-based bioplastics cannot be recycled with traditional petroleum plastics, so always check your packaging labels carefully to ensure these biodegradable items stay out of your standard recycling bin.
Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
