Plastic Eggs
What Should I Do With It?
Plastic eggs, widely used for festive spring celebrations and holiday egg hunts, are not accepted in standard curbside recycling programs and must go in the regular trash. Because these lightweight items easily blow away and break into small pieces, hiding them outdoors poses a litter hazard to local wildlife, making it highly effective to count your eggs before and after a hunt to ensure none are left behind. To reduce environmental waste, you can store and reuse intact plastic eggs year after year, donate them to other families, or transition to highly durable, sustainable alternatives like wooden, ceramic, or cloth eggs.
Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
