Plastic Salad Bags

Plastics ✅ Standard Recycling
A clear, flexible thin plastic package used for leafy greens.

What Should I Do With It?

Plastic salad bags, which are standard convenience items in the produce section, cannot be recycled in curbside bins or retail drop-off hubs. Most prepackaged salad bags are manufactured from plastic #7 film, a lightweight and complex material that is highly resistant to standard recycling processes. Because of their thin, flexible design, these bags act as dangerous tanglers that easily wrap around rotating machinery at sorting facilities, causing costly delays. To dispose of them properly, always empty out any organic food waste for composting first, and throw the clean, empty bag into the regular household trash.

💡 Helpful Tip

Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
