What Should I Do With It?

Plastic toys are not accepted in standard curbside recycling programs because they are typically manufactured from a mix of hard, unlabeled plastics. If a toy is still in good condition, donating or gifting it is the most sustainable option to keep it out of the waste stream. However, if a plastic toy is broken and must be discarded, always check it for batteries or electronic components first. Any toy with a screen, speaker, or memory chip is considered electronic waste and should be taken to a specialized e-waste drop-off location, while standard plastic-only toys must go in the regular trash.

💡 Helpful Tip

Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
