Ribbons and Bows
What Should I Do With It?
Ribbons and bows are popular additions to wrapped gifts, but they are not accepted in most recycling programs. In fact, long ribbons are particularly problematic for sorting equipment because they can easily tangle the machinery, so be sure to remove them completely before recycling your wrapping paper. To help cut down on waste, consider skipping these accessories altogether, or simply save and reuse them for future gifts. You can also donate your leftovers to give them a second life.
Before throwing this away, see if it can be fixed up, given to a friend, or donated to a local thrift shop. Keeping items in use is the best way to stop waste before it starts!
The recycling guidelines shown here are for general reference and educational purposes. Every city and town has different rules, sorting equipment, and recycling programs.
Please check your local town website or ask your local garbage collection program to make sure you are following your neighborhood's rules.
